Gokyo
trail has been developed because the usual route becomes very
crowded during the peak season. The trail is equally attractive,
as it offers a panoramic mountain view. The route up to Dudh Pokhari
and Gokyo Ri surpasses the traditional route. While following
the Dudh Koshi River towards its source, one comes closer to Cho-Oyu
(8153m.), the sixth highest peak in the world. Leaving the inhabited
world behind, one passes through seasonal yak herding pastures
and reach high camp on the banks of the Dudh Pokhari. Through
this route, Gokyo Ri (5300m.), the highest point on this
trek, can be reached.
